Torque is the result of force applied, via a lever. The torque value is the product of the applied force multiplied by the lever length, all as applied 90° to the direction of the force.
Torque values between systems of measurement. Foot pounds is same as pound-feet; ounce-inches is same as inch-ounces. Some values rounded.
Nm x 0.738 = foot-pounds
Foot-pounds x 1.356 = Nm
Inch-ounces = 141.6 x Nm
Foot-pounds x 192 = inch-ounces
Inch-pound x 1.15 = CmKg
Mkp (or Mkg) x 7.23 = foot-pounds

CAUTION! Bolt head sizes ..!
BMW has been shipping some bolts with one wrench size smaller heads, using the original part numbers. A dealership might have both sizes in the same box on their shelves; or, perhaps you order a bolt & get one with a different head size than you expected. You likely do not have 18 & 16 mm wrenches in your Airhead tool kit! I have seen 18 mm being substituted for 19 mm; 16 mm substituted for 17 mm. K bikes don’t generally have this problem ..most started with the even numbered sizes. Later model BMW motorcycles are using the smaller heads. There is no need to carry extra & new sizes of wrenches, if you are careful & knowledgeable ..and, ..now you ARE!

Nuts, bolts ..grading systems & standard torque values:
Fittings from Germany are specified by a grading system that is different from what is used in the U.S. for American SAE items; and, in some cases, U.S. metric fasteners are not coded the same for strength. Fittings from Germany are, of course, Metric-sized. German bolts are marked on their heads by a number that corresponds to the over-all strength, called a Grade. Ratings (grades) used in the German DIN system are, in increasing order of strength: 5.6; 6.8; 6.9; 8.8; 10.9; and 12.9. 8.8 is a fairly strong metal and thus, after manufacturer, it results in a decently strong bolt, & that grade is quite common on BMW’s. While 8.8 is now commonly available in American hardware stores, many stores carry INFERIOR bolts, often unmarked ..and in some instances you can not depend on any markings it may have. BE CAREFUL! Nuts are a bit different ..see later, herein.
BMW uses bolts rated stronger than 8.8 in some places, such as shock absorber mounts, brakes, rods, crankshaft-to-flywheel or clutch carrier; ..etc. I suggest using BMW-supplied parts! A very complete list of all sorts of BMW nuts, bolts, washers, studs, and other items, is in my hardware article. In some instances BMW uses specially made & treated items. Don’t even think about using non-BMW fasteners for the driveshaft U-joint, flywheel or clutch carrier, rods..
There are standardized tables for recommended tightening torque for fasteners. The purpose of the tables as shown in the BMW Factory Service Manual is for those rare instances when there is no BMW specification elsewhere’s for torque for an item. It will be quite rare that you would have to consult those tables. The tables have the size of the fastener (M6, M8, M12, etc.) & optimum tightening torque for the grade of metal. In the DIN (German normal standards) system, bolts & nuts are assumed to be phosphate treated, no after-treatment, not galvanized. Separate or included in the same tables may be information if the steel parts are cadmium plated, or otherwise treated; ~30% less torque is recommended for cadmium plated parts. Cadmium plated parts are hardly available anymore from Europe. Tables are different for NUTS; nuts are rated as 8, 10, & 12 in strength ..with the same sort of variances for plating, lubrication, etc. Thus, a nut & bolt may have slightly different ratings. As a general rule, there are standards for all the various types of headed screws, bolts, etc. If no specification by BMW for your specific fastener/location, you can usually use standard table values. ASK on the Airheads List!
Warning!
Standardized charts/tables for general torque specifications for fasteners are almost always wrong for gasketed joints, joints of soft materials, and steel threaded items into various aluminum alloys. Closer values will be found in the BMW DIN standards chart located in the factory manuals ..BUT! ..because of the potential for serious damage, I do not list standardized values, only specific item values. I advise you to not use standardized values, whether industry type, or BMW charts... except as a last resort, particularly where I do not show a value in this article.
FIRST check this article, well-below, and see if I have a torque value for you!
I DO HAVE the BMW factory manual tables for ’common hardware’ torque values, strengths, etc. These are specific to types & sizes and ’treatments’ of such as bolts, but not specific for any place on your bike they are used at. I have thought about copying the charts and making them available by link in this article, but haven’t found any need, so far, and, I have strong concerns if you used such charts/table values, and not what is in the lower part of this article. The chart tables can be considerably wrong, for specific items, that BMW has specified the torque for, or, that I have.
Cadmium plating:
BMW is shipping parts (nuts, bolts, etc.) that are NO LONGER cadmium plated due to European environmental rules. These non-plated parts tend to RUST! These parts are chemically treated in a different way now, & nearly always OK at the original specified torque as used when they were cadmium plated, assuming the original specs used are in Nm. Unfortunately, there is no information on any of this, NOR any values to use if the parts are removed and then reinstalled, which DOES have an effect, sometimes a goodly one, on repeated fastening and unfastening torque values, not to mention the large reduction of any protective coating. This sort of thing has been going on a long time; and, has been quite prominent for some manufacturer’s spark plugs, which are fine if installed only once. If removed and reinstalled, then antiseize usually has to be added and the torque lessened a bit. Very few folks know these things. Until this is straightened-out (perhaps never), I suggest you use a faint trace of antiseize compound (where appropriate ONLY) and then reinstall at original torque values, or less (you need to be informed on that!). Try to obtain old original parts when yours need replacement ..in most instances (?) the part numbers are the same, & the dealership might have the cadmium plated ones under the SAME part number and even in the SAME box ..SO ASK.
LOCTITE:
With clean & dry threads to begin with, most types of Loctite cause UP TO ~15% increase in actual torque because Loctite acts as a very mild lubricant. This is the maximum effect. Because of the safety factor of parts strengths & typical usages, this effect of Loctite is usually ignored, as far as torque wrench settings are concerned. IMO, the effect is similar to the threads without Loctite, but with a faint trace of oil.
ANTISEIZE COMPOUND:
When using antiseize compound ..you SHOULD, and in many instances such as spark plug threads, MUST, allow for the change in effective torque (18-30% with anti-seize compound). USUALLY the only place on your Airhead you need to reduce the torque for, if the item has anti-seize compound on it, is at the spark plugs. I am a bit more anal about the subject, and tend to reduce torque SOME, with anti-seize compound, at such as the bolts/studs that hold the transmission to the engine, the Universal Joint at the rear of the transmission (where I usually use a mild Loctite, and not an antiseize compound), and some other places.
NEVER-EVER USE ANY ANTISEIZE OR LUBRICANT PRODUCT AT WHEEL BOLTS, NUTS, CONE FITTINGS, ETC., THAT HOLD THE REAR WHEEL OF YOUR BMW AIRHEAD OR CLASSIC K-BIKE TO THE REAR DRIVE. THIS MEANS MONOLOVER AND PARALEVER BIKES! If you find that your motorcycle has had antiseize used at the rear drive threads for those parts, or the parts themselves, do a very thorough job of cleaning the material off, using brushes and solvents. Leave all threads clean and totally dry. Torque only with a torque wrench unless in an emergency field situation. BMW torque values are for clean and dry threads at these particular places. Failure to follow my directions can result in a wheel departing the motorcycle!

Errors in literature from BMW ..this includes Clymers ..Haynes ..etc., ..when listed in foot pounds ..(BMW original errors are often carried forward into Clymers & Haynes books):
BMW of North America published a Service Bulletin, Volume II, NO. 23, Dated 3/82. I will quote some from that bulletin: ’May we advise you that from now on, any published BMW conversions found in brackets immediately behind the millimeter figures in all service literature (riders manuals, shop manuals, etc.) should not be used. Recent experience has shown that use of these figures has caused some major, expense errors by either a dealer service department, a customer, or an independent machine shop. Please inform all customers upon purchase of a shop manual, and also those customers that you are aware of that have one in their possession.’ This was signed by Herb Neas, National Service Manager. ’
There are errors above ..if you are a strict interpreter of words (millimeter should be metric Nm for instance; and ’from now on’).
What all this REALLY means:
When BMW has a published torque figure, it is ’usually’ OK as shown in Nm, (I say ’usually’ because sometimes I think BMW torque values at SOME PLACES are somewhat too high). DO NOT use BMW’s foot-pounds figures. I suggest that you calculate those yourself (Nm x 0.74 is foot-pounds). Clymers, Haynes, etc., have often copied BMW’s figures for Nm & foot-pounds & thus MAY have continued to carry forward the errors!..so be cautious. Torque figures in the rest of this article are values Snowbum uses, & believes to be best, proper, .. & safe.
There have been NUMEROUS instances in which someone has questioned just what BMW means by its torque figures. This question usually arises because using a torque wrench at the limited clearance area of the driveshaft U-Joint bolts usually requires an adaptor, and BMW AND OTHERS sell adaptors ..which ’can’ add to the working-length of the torque wrench, thereby INcreasing the true bolt torque value from that set on the torque wrench; unless the adaptor is used at exactly 90°.
I know of no instances, on any BMW Airhead motorcycle, where the factory specification for torque is anything other that the ACTUAL torque on the fastener..with the exception of the R80GS, R80R, R100GS, R100R, where BMW has said that for certain items you must torque to a certain value which is then followed by a certain number of additional rotational degrees of tightening.
For all others but the R80GS, R80R, R100GS, R100R rod bolts or other such specified angular tightening, this means the torque figure is the value applied to the bolt itself. This is standard for industry & applies unless specifically noted to be different.

The torque to be applied to a bolt or nut is the factory specified torque. You MUST calculate the adjustment factor for the torque wrench if the adaptor is not used at 90° to the torque wrench. In every instance (except at 90°), where the effective length of the torque wrench is increased, the torque wrench will need to be set to a value LESS than the specified value for the bolt. NORMALLY a torque wrench adaptor is used STRAIGHT-OUT from the torque wrench.
It is quite common for more modern vehicles to have a bolt or other item specified to be torqued to a stated value, and then the item is tightened further, by a number of rotational degrees as shown on a dial.

Most of the rest of this article is divided into SECTIONS. Section numbers correspond to the identical numbers that BMW uses in its literature. Those two digits are often the first digits in an item’s part number.

Section 11-Engine:
Cylinder heads:
The 4 rocker arm stud & nut threads are to be oily. If they squeak, remove nut, oil immediately, & immediately re-tighten. Cylinder stud nuts are to be evenly cross-torqued, staging at ~10, ~18, & then CAREFULLY to a final value of 25 ftlbs. I ALWAYS use a final value target of 25 foot-pounds for ALL models ..even though I know pre-Nikasil models were specified at 29-31 foot-pounds in SOME old literature. I do NOT consider it safe to torque higher than a true 26 foot-pounds on any Airhead model, & that is with a known good, calibrated torque wrench. After the first torqueing after the heads have been off, for each later re-torqueing, do not back off all 6 nuts at once, just do one at a time. If setting end play, do one rocker at a time. The idea is that you will not have more than one or two of the nuts loose, in comparison to the others, for very long. Time is involved, as I think the metal will move, so don’t leave things unbalanced and loose.
M6 nut on the end of the automatic advance unit on models through 1978: 4 foot-pounds, which is 48 inch-pounds MAXIMUM! Be careful! It is good to use a FRESH waverly washer. It is not unusual to find that someone has over-torqued this nut; yet the camshaft threaded stub end is not yet broken (& maybe not yet visibly cracked). Thus, the threads could already be weakened. Be very cautious. I always torque this nut with my experienced hand, with a very small 4 (max 6) inch wrench. If you do not have a good feel for torque, especially torque that breaks things, use a torque wrench. Use 24 to 30 INCH-pounds to start with, and preferably a fresh waverly washer. If you have an INCH-OUNCE wrench, guess how you calculate inch-ounces? Yes, the conversion factor is near the top of this page. Your day (+) is ruined if you snap off the tip! So, be careful!!! Rocker arm adjustment lock nut:
13-16 foot-pounds (some say 12, & I am OK with that, less likely for thread problems). I do it by feel.
Valve cover center acorn nut:
14 foot-pounds (I am cautious, & do it by feel). I never tighten it as tight as specifications. LOOK at the far inner end of this associated stud. It goes through the head and appears next to the spark plug. If ALL the threads in the head are not engaged by the stud, you must decide if to remove the stud & reset it deeper (if the acorn nut with its washer will still have enough threads engaged); or, install BMW’s LONGER stud, which BMW supplies just for this particular purpose. Outer metal cover, front of engine:
~5.5 foot-pounds
Engine to frame:
55 foot-pounds.
Crankshaft rod bolts:
ALWAYS use new ones. Not rusty. Low viscosity oil, oiled threads, 36 foot-pounds. Special tri-tool needed, see tools article: https://bmwmotorcycletech.info/tools.htm. R80GS, R80R, R100GS, R100R: specifications are 15 foot-pounds, then 40 degrees more. I don’t like that method all that much.
Crankshaft front bearing assembly (carrier): Most will be torqued at approximately 17ftlbs. See later, herein.
Flywheel bolts:
There have been a lot of different BMW specifications on flywheel bolt torque values over the years. I had previously used (clean & dry or faintest oil film from an oily cleaning solvent) torques of 42-45 foot-pounds on the 1973 & earlier engines with the 10 mm bolts. For the 1974 I used 52-55 ftlbs and for 1975 & later models with 11 mm bolts I used about 75 to 80 ftlbs. I have not changed that..except for the 11 mm bolts I use a faint oil sheen and 75-80 ftlbs. Some aftermarket literature will show different flywheel bolt torques for different engine sizes for the same year. Disregard such advice. The big difference is in the size of the bolts, with the earlier 10 mm bolts using substantially less torque.
1981 & later:
BMW’s last specification change was in S.I. 11-049-91 (2495); this can also be seen on the 12/92 fiche on page 3, illustration G23. The SI stated that while the flywheel bolts were previously at ~75 foot-pounds (100 Nm), they were now to be at 90 foot-pounds (125 Nm), cleaned threads, & the threads were to be OILED! BMW specifically said that the bolts would NOT reach their limit of elasticity at that torque, & could be REUSED! I will NOT tighten them that tight. Makes me very nervous! However, at least one Pro does oil and tighten to 90ftlbs, & I have heard of no problems reported. It is YOUR CHOICE. NOTE also that this is in regards to the 11 mm bolts, & applies to 1981+ models. For whatever reason, BMW did not mention much earlier model details, nor did it mention that the 11 mm bolts were used far earlier than 1981.

I unfortunately discovered the lack of support for console commands after the fact. I couldn’t turn in other quests because the ’Molecular Level’ quest was the one NPCs always wanted to talk to me about. I wasn’t ready to pick a faction yet, and so I read about reset quest. Sounded harmless enough.
Unfortunately I did it, and it actually removed the quest from my log. All steps, after invoking SQO, are shown as DORMANT.
Fallout 4 should share the samefallout.wikia.comconsole commands as Fallout 3. If you can find the quest ID, then you can use the ’resetquest ’ command. Use it at your own risk. However, using the console on the Steam version of the game will disable all Steam achievements. Jan 12, 2018 I need to reset 2 quest in Fallout 4, semper invicta and quarter mastery. Quarter mastery sends me all the way to far harbor and the other tells me to go outside then when im outside it tells me to go inside. Whats the exact command and code for the quests or where do i go to find them, ive tried searching and cant seem to find anywhere with a clear example or response.
What I have tried:
1: setstage 10, 20, 30, 40, etc.
2. completequest. This actually completes the quest, granting XP, but does not start me on the next quest. Steps still show as DORMANT even after this.
3. completequest into a reset quest into a completequest again. It just completes the quest twice.
4. startquest. did nothing
5. reset quests earlier in the main chain to see if maybe I could talk to one of the NPCs and they would restart the quest for me. They all just give me general dialogue.
6. Tried talking to various people involved in this quest to see if they would get it started again. No dice.
I did this at level 26 and have done so much since and am now at level 46. I finally felt like continuing the main quest to discover this. Is there any way to get this quest fired back up again? I reached out to Bethesda directly and they pointed me here.
I am including the DXDIAG, that I already have sent to Bethesda, below. I will be happy to give any other information to help in this endeavor, but unfortunately I am no game coder. =(

Black Soul Gems are magical items from the Necromancy school. Unlike regular Soul Gems, Black Soul Gems can be used to trap the souls of humanoid races, such as Imperials, Nords, Bretons, Redguards, Orcs, High Elves, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Argonians, Khajiit and Dremora. General information about using Soul Gems is provided on the Soul Gem, Soul Trap, and Enchanting articles.
*Oct 18, 2008 Finding the gems is somewhat difficult, though you can actually pick up the first one right here in the witch’s home. Drop down the trapdoor hidden within Melisande’s fireplace and proceed into the room at the end of the hallway. It’s in here that you’ll find a bowl of various soul gems, one of which turns out to be a Grand Soul Gem.
*A Black Soul Gem can hold as much as a Grand Soul Gem (1600), but it is much easier to fill since any humanoid is 1600 units. Azura’s Star edit Azura’s Star is essentially the most powerful Soul Gem in the game, and can be obtained by completing Azura’s Daedric Quest.
*Soul gems can be bought from most mages stores, in random loot and from Mages Guild halls and range in price depending on their level. In addition, you can obtain Azura’s Star, a re-usable Grand soul gem artifact, by completing the Azura daedric quest.
The rituals necessary to create Black Soul Gems are revealed during the Mages Guild quest Necromancer’s Moon, however it is not necessary to do any of the Mages Guild storyline to create Black Soul Gems.

*One or more Grand Soul Gems (empty soul gems are best, but gems you have filled yourself can be used, see notes)
*A method of casting the Soul Trap effect, which requires a minimum of level 25 Mysticism (enchanted weapons will not work)The Procedure[edit]
*First, head to one of these locations: Dark Fissure (east from the shrine of Vaermina), Fort Istirus (east of Kvatch), Fort Linchal (northeast of Kvatch), or Wendelbek (at the headwaters of the Panther River). Outside each of these locations, you will find a white altar draped in a red cloth.
*Wait for the correct day, namely the Shade of the Revenant (see below for details).
*If there is no light there when you arrive, you can use the wait command to wait 24 hours at a time. Or you can calculate when the next Shade of the Revenant will occur, go complete other quests, then return on the correct date.
*When waiting for the purple light, do not stand directly in front of the altar; back up so you can see the altar and a fair portion of sky. The purple light is very soft by the time it gets to the altar, and if you are standing directly in front of it you may not realize it is shining and wait right past it. Also, doing this at night will help.
*Once the light is shining on the altar, place one or more Grand Soul Gems in the altar (it’s a container like a chest).
*Cast a Soul Trap spell on the altar. When you open the altar again, one grand soul gem is now an empty black one.
*Repeat step #4 for as many spare grand soul gems as you have. Only one will be transformed for each Soul Trap spell, but you can cast one spell after another.Shade of the Revenant[edit]The Shade of the Revenant being used to create Black Soul Gems
Black Soul Gems can only be created during the ’Shade of the Revenant.’ As part of this phenomenon, a purple light shines down from the sky on each of the four Necromancer Altars.
Each Shade of the Revenant starts at midnight and lasts for 24 hours, until the end of that day at midnight (although the Shade may not actually be visible during daylight hours). The Shade of the Revenant occurs on the same day at all four locations. It happens every eight days, starting from the first day of the game (i.e., the day on which Uriel Septim enters your cell in the Tutorial). If you continue playing past the last date shown on this table, the Shade will continue to occur every eight days. To determine when the next shade will occur, look at the number of days passed and see if it is a multiple of 8. If it is, then the next day will be a shade day.
When you are in jail the count of days will freeze and resume only when you are released. So if you have been in jail for more than a day, to calculate the shade days use the same procedure but add the number of days you’ve been in jail for the full day (not the same as ’Days Jailed’) to the days that have passed since the beginning of the game. In other words, if you are arrested and spend an hour in jail it counts as a ’Day Jailed’ but the count for Shade of the Revenant doesn’t freeze.Notes[edit]

*During the Necromancer’s Moon quest, you will be sent to Dark Fissure specifically. At 12am on the night of the Shade of the Revenant, a Worm Anchorite will emerge from the cave behind the altar to create a Black Soul Gem. Afterwards, you can steal his new Black Soul Gem from inside the altar, and use it to trap his soul.
*Starting at level 5 there is a 10% chance that any Necromancer Adept (necromancer boss) will be carrying a Black Soul Gem in their inventory. A list of locations containing Necromancer Adepts is provided at Necromancer Dungeons. The Necromancers in Howling Cave for Meridia’s Daedric quest also have a 10% chance of carrying Black Soul Gems.
*Black Soul Gems can also hold non-NPC souls, so be careful when fighting normal creatures while you have empty black soul gems.
*Any Grand Soul Gem already containing a soul (of any type) can also be converted, but it must be one that you have filled yourself.
*In other words, if you find or purchase a Grand Soul Gem with a soul in it, it won’t work. But if you start with an empty Grand Soul Gem then fill it with a soul, it will work.
*Any Grand Soul Gem that you have filled yourself (i.e., any one that will work) will have a value of 200 gold (see Soul Gems).
*A Grand Soul Gem will lose its stolen flag when turned into a Black Soul Gem.
*At earlier levels Black Soul Gems are the easiest way to enchant powerful items as you will not be encountering any creatures with Grand Souls until much later on, and Black Soul Gems are much more powerful than the early Sigil Stones you can acquire (they have less overall charge but the effects can be much more powerful). There will be many opportunities to capture the soul of an NPC, especially bandits, highwaymen, and all the Necromancers you must kill during the Mages Guild quests that occur after Necromancer’s Moon.
*Dremora, Golden Saints, and Dark Seducers are considered NPCs; they can be useful for filling up Black Soul Gems if you can summon them.
*When a non-NPC soul is trapped into a gem, the game engine will prefer to put it into a normal gem before filling a black soul gem. However, the game will fill the black soul gem with a soul before filling Azura’s Star.
*The quest-specific ’Black Soul Gems’ needed for the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest are not truly Black Soul Gems: they cannot be used to trap NPC souls. Furthermore, using these soul gems is not recommended (see the quest bugs).Bugs[edit]
*A glitch exists which allows you to create multiple Black Soul Gems from the same Grand Soul Gem. If you place at least three (Some say two) filled Grand Soul Gems grouped on the same inventory line into the altar and cast the Soul Trap spell, all three will still be present along with the Black Soul Gem when you open the container. You can repeat this process, but all the gems must be removed and returned to the altar each time, or the entire group of Grand Soul Gems will disappear once you have cast an equal number of soul trap spells as there are gems in the group.

Soul Gems are miscellaneous items which can be used to trap the soul of a dying creature or NPC. The resulting filled soul gems can be used as power sources for enchanted items, either when initially creating custom enchanted items or when recharging depleted enchanted weapons, either of which will consume the soul gem. In addition to the soul gems listed here, the Shivering Isles expansion adds a Soul Tomato that can be used as the equivalent of a grand soul gem.

Regular Soul Gems can only trap creatures, not NPCs (note that some creatures, like Dremora, are actually classed as NPCs). Necromancy has researched the rituals necessary to create Black Soul Gems that are capable of trapping the souls of NPCs. The details of those rituals are described on the page describing Black Soul Gems.
Once you have a filled Black Soul Gem, it is used exactly like a regular Soul Gem. A Black Soul Gem can hold as much as a Grand Soul Gem (1600), but it is much easier to fill since any humanoid is 1600 units.Azura’s Star[edit]
Azura’s Star is essentially the most powerful Soul Gem in the game, and can be obtained by completing Azura’s Daedric Quest. Tekken On the Go
There are some games that work well for mobile gaming, and there are some games that simply don’t. Fighting games are among some of the most notorious in the latter category. The elaborate combination attacks, the careful timing needed to succeed, the sheer number of buttons to memorize, none of that translates well to a handheld device operated by touchscreen prompts. That’s not to say it’s not impossible; it’s just very difficult, which Namco-Bandai’s mobile edition of Tekken proves. Based on the long-running series of 3D fighting games, Tekken takes what works about the genre and the franchise in general, and attempt to adapt it to a mobile platform. For the most part, it succeeds, but` not without some compromises.
Tournament in the Pocket

The most notable of these compromises is also the most understandable: the controls. Fighting games are known for having some of the most complicated control schemes out there. Each character typically has over a dozen or so unique moves. Each move requires a combination of buttons to be pressed in swift order, and the key to mastering these games rests in the player’s ability to memorize these combinations and learn how to string them together in a way that will reduce the opposition to a puddle of goo in no time flat. To put it simply, they require more button presses than just about anything else out there.
The mobile version of Tekken simplifies things considerably on that front. You tap the right side of the screen to attack, you hold the right side to charge up a more powerful maneuver that can potentially break through guards, you tap the left side to block, and you move simply by swiping your finger in the direction you want to go. There are no combos to execute this way; there are only flurries of kicks and punches to unleash while you do what you can to mitigate the damage you sustain.
If you do want to execute flashier moves, you do so via Waza Cards. Waza Cards let you pull off attacks that are more powerful than just your basic blows, but you can only use them once, and you only get three per round from a total ’deck’ of nine that you put together ahead of time.
Experienced fighting game fans might turn their noses up at it, but the system works. The simplicity allows you to focus on the fight at hand, and it’s easy for novice fighters to pick up and play. Pounding a big panda bear into submission feels just as satisfying on the small screen as it does on the high-definition one, and knowing that there’s always another challenging foe to fight makes this a hard game to put down.
Looks Like Tekken
It helps that the app looks nothing short of fantastic. The graphics are incredibly detailed, almost on par with what consoles are capable of pulling off. Every classic Tekken character looks as familiar and bombastic as always, and the blows they inflict on one another look like they seriously hurt. Just seeing Tekken in action can be considered a game in and of itself, and the developers deserve kudos for capturing the series’ spirit on a screen so small.
Trouble in the Ranks
Sadly, not all compromises are made equal. Traditional fighting games live and die by their characters; each one has a distinct look, personality and play style that make them appealing to different players. Some people may like to play as Lili, while others would prefer to play as Bob. Unfortunately, Tekken Mobile can’t be bothered to just let people play who they want; it gives you a couple of predetermined characters to start off with, and expects you to unlock the rest. You don’t have a lot of choice in how you unlock the rest either; everything in this app is earned through random loot boxes, and characters are no exception.
Speaking of which, it can’t be ignored that the app’s current lineup feels awfully limited. Tekken has a colorful cast of characters, and yet this mobile edition is missing a lot of them, including Heihachi, the series’ most prominent and recurring antagonist. While it might be unrealistic to expect everyone to make the cut, the developers made the confusing decision to turn this app into the official debut for a bunch of completely new characters on top of that. It doesn’t hurt the quality of the game at all, but seeing these new guys chilling in your Tekken game when your favorite fighter is nowhere to be seen can feel like salt in the wound.
Conclusion: A Worthy Contender
Overall, Tekken Mobile is still a pretty solid app all around. It does the best job it can to bring the fighting game genre to tablets and smartphones, it looks great, and it plays pretty well all things considered. It’s no substitute for what you can find on a console, it’s missing some characters that would have been nice to have, and your inability to really pick and choose from the roster is irritating, but if you can get by that, you’ll find an app worth checking out.

You can tune-up - for Russian input - regular system keyboard tools of say English or German MS Windows.

NOTE. Recently there were many complains that one could NOT write in Russian in Internet Explorer - in the text input fields on Web pages.
A user inputs Russian text in a usual way but sees something like this on screen:

This is not related to Cyrillic tune-up of your computer. It means that a plugin connected to your browser causes such thing.

This page provides Russian keyboard activation instructions for MS Windows, that is, enabling regular system keyboard tools for Russian via Control Panel.

Also, if you want, it shows you how to use - instead of the standard Russianlayout - a so called phonetic (transliterated, homophonic) layout (’A’-’A’, ’F’ - Russian ’F’, ’K’-’K’, ’O’-’O’, etc.), which by the way, is modifiable, that is, you can change my phonetic layout as you wish.

Typing Russian when system tune-up cannot be done:
at work or in a hotel’s business center Windows or Mac computer

If you need to write in Russian, but you are not using your own PC, say you are in an Internet-cafe or in the library, where you can read Russian but can not write - cannot use Windows Control Panel to enable system keyboard tools for Russian, then it’s still Ok, there is an easy work-around:
you can use special Web page with a Virtual Keyboard where you can input Cyrillic text (using mouse or physical keyboard) and then copy it to the place where you need it.
That is, even in that case you should not send a transliteration, latin text such as ’privet’ or ’schast’ye’ that will bother the readers of that message - no, you can send normal Cyrillic text.
Virtual Keyboard allows you to input via regular keyboard (though mouse can be used, too) and -important! - you can type ’as at home’, choosing, in the menu below the image, same layout (Standard or Phonetic) that you use at home!

Obviously, it’s not as handy as typing with regular Windows or Mac keyboard tools, so you should use such special Web page only in such ’corner case’ as Internet-cafe or library (or if you need to type Russian not too often).
That is, if it’s your own computer at home then you should spend 20 minutes -one time! - to read the instruction on this page, for regular Windows keyboard tools activation via Control Panel (with standard or phonetic Russian keyboard layout).



How to install Microsoft keyboard layout for Russian under Windows 7/8/10, Vista; XP/2003.

This page has the instructions for the two different layouts to be used with ’RU’ mode of the keyboard(typing Russian Cyrillic):
*Standard keyboard layout in OOB English version of MS Windows. This is the layout used in Russia.

*Phonetic (transliterated, homophonic) keyboard layout(’O’-’O’, ’A’-’A’, ’T’-’T’, etc.):
If you need such thing, then this page explains (below) how to use such alternative, custom layout. I’ve made my phonetic layout to be similar to US English keyboard, that is, tried to keep most Russian letters and other symbols and punctuation marks on the same places where they are drawn on US English keyboard.
If a person types a lot using say French keyboard, s/he may want to change my Russian phonetic layout accordingly - there is an instruction for such modification down below.



What is Russian phonetic(transliterated, homophonic) keyboard layout
Here is the picture of the Standard MS Windows keyboard layout for Russian, made for the countries of the former USSR where keyboards always have Russian letters drawn on them:

If you do not have a keyboard with Russian letters drawn on it and/or you are not familiar at all with that Standard layout, then you cannot easily type without memorizing all the locations of the keys in Russian.
In this case many people use another layout, called phonetic (transliterated, homophonic) keyboard layout:
the Russian letters are located where the closest English letters are:
’O’-’O’, ’A’-’A’, ’T’-’T’, Russian ’Ф’ - English ’F’, etc.

This page offers such Phonetic keyboard layout for your computer (it will work in ’RU’ mode instead of Standard layout) and has step-by-step activation instruction for that.
The instruction for adding a file (not a program!) of Russian phonetic layout to the system takes a computer novice about 20 minutes and is a one-time job.
Windows offers to have several keyboard layouts for one language, so there are no ’hack’ below, just Microsoft-suggested way of adding new layout to the system..
It’s easy to get back original stage - to make Standard layout work again with ’RU’ (covered below). Here is an example of a Phonetic layout (it’s modifiable as explained below):
Note. Your physical keyboard may have different layout of ’Enter’ button. Then you should find the button shown right above ’Enter’ on my picture somewhere else on your keyboard.
Important.
I do not offer here any keyboard program that say lets you type in Phonetic mode, no - just files -keyboard layout files that will be used by system input software - along with the instructions on how to make such layout work in ’RU’ mode.
These files work with the built-inMS Windows keyboard tools, that is, they work exactly as original layout files provided by Microsoft, no additional software is required.

Note, that the majority of Russian letters - 26 of 33 (!) have straight-forward, ’used-by-everyone’ phonetic equivalent - Russian ’А’ is always represented by English ’A’, ’К’ - ’K’, ’O’- ’O’, ’Б’ - ’B’, ’Д’ - ’D’, etc.
So just 7-8 Russian letters has to be assigned to some non-letter keyboard buttons, say ’Ш’ could be assigned to ’{’ (modifiable, you can change my variant).
The point is that there are ONLY 7-8 such letters and one memorizes their location on a keyboard in just a week of use..

How to install phonetic(transliterated, homophonic) Russian keyboard layout
for 32/64 bit Windows 7,8,10/Vista/XP/2003

Offered phonetic Russian keyboard layouts are free of charge. Win7 usb for mac.

Note. I personally don’t have Windows 10 yet, but several people already wrote to me that this instruction works just fine under Windows 10.
Here is what such user wrote:

Note. Windows 8 issue, not really important. There is a (cosmetic really)’ option that does not work for the newly added phonetic layout:
* in Control Panel of Windows 7, one can place a cursor on the newly added phonetic layout and press ’Properties’ button at the right to see the image of the layout
* under Windows 8 this is called ’Preview’ and is inactive for added layouts But again, it does not affect your typing at all. You can see the image of the phonetic layout in this instruction when I offer to see the images of all offered phonetic layouts for you to choose one.

If you already know what Phonetic layout is and just want to start installing it on your computer, then you can skip the explanations below and go at once to the installation details.

My phonetic layout (that is, a variant of positioning Russian letters on the keyboard) has the following characteristics:
*The Russian letters are in the same place as the similar English ones:
’A’-’A’, ’O’-’O’, etc.

*most of the important non-alphabetical symbols (punctuation marks, etc.) are in their usual (for US English keyboard) places
(unlike standard MS Russian layout shown above where to type a punctuation mark in a Russian text, one has to switch keyboard to English).
I had to assign a Russian letter to the ’+’ symbol, but it’s not a big deal because people rarely use that symbol while typing Russian(unlike symbol ’-’ which is often used in a text)
Here is the picture of my phonetic keyboard layout:
Symbol ’number’ - № - that a standard Russian layout has, can be obtained on phonetic layout, too - via a combination of buttons: Ctrl/Alt/5. Symbol currency Euro - via a combination of buttons Ctrl/Alt/E.

I did not personally design this variant of placing Russian letters on the keyboard, I just took one of many variants that I found on the Web and modified it.
Most of phonetic layout variants have been around for years.
Different variants were accepted by different groups of users, for example, users of then-popular editor ChiWriter used one variant, users of another program -ChemText - used another, etc.
I took as a basis a widely used variant called YaWert.
The name comes from the first few letters in what is the QWERTY line of the U. S. keyboard.
If you’d like to use a different variant of placing Russian letters, then you can modify my layout after the installation (it’s discussed near the end of this page, in the ’Modify’ chapter).

Optional variants. Ready answer for one frequently asked question.
In addition to my main variant of Phonetic layout (see again the image right above), I’ve prepared two more layouts because they are almost as often used by people as that main one, so such people would not need to spend time modifying my main layout to obtain one of these two also-famous variants:
*1st additional Phonetic layout - YaZHert.
If you don’t like just one thing in my main variant of Phonetic layout, namely you do NOT like that
Russian ’Ж’ is assigned to ’V’ and Russian ’В’ is assigned to ’W’
and you would like to have it in the opposite way: ’Ж/V’ and ’В/W’
and this is your only wish for this phonetic layout,
then you do NOT need to read the ’Modify’chapter - I’ve prepared 2nd variant of my phonetic layout which differs from first one just in that pair of letters assignment and it will be offered in the same place of this page as the main variant.

for Windows 7,8,10/Vista/XP/2003
Again, when you choose which layout to download, you can use your printer to have it’s image on paper as a reference - visit Layout images to print out page (will open in new window).

Keyboard stuff is kind of system-level stuff, it’s Operating System tools and therefore it requires a little bit more effort and knowledge than say making browser to read Russian Web pages, so be patient. Important! About Windows XP and newer versions.
To be able to activate such phonetic keyboard layout for Russian to have it work as ’RU’, you must login to Windows as a system Administrator(has to have Administrative Rights).
On home computers it’s not an issue - an owner is always an Administrator :-) but at work it is an issue sometimes.
For those who are at work - it’s NOT a network Administrator Rights, it’s Administrator Rights only to that specific computer, so you can ask your IT person to grant you such Administrative Rights to that computer.
In any case please refer to the system manual or your IT group to understand this ’be an Administrator’ issue (it is not related to using Russian, so I can not explain it completely).

Let’s start the activation of phonetic Russian layout.
First thing you need to do is to check whether Windows considers you a complete novice or not:
*open Windows Explorer, your standard file manager. You can do it for example by sumiltaneously clicking on left button with Windows logo on it and then on the button with letter ’E’.
Or by doing Start/Programs/Accessories and choosing ’Windows Explorer’ there or by clicking on ’My Computer’ and clicking on ’C:’ which is your hard drive with folders/files.
That Explorer program lets you create folders(directories), copy files between the folders, etc.
In the menu of Explorer, go to Folder Options screen:
depending on the version, it’s either in
*View/Folder Options
or
*Tools / Folder Options (in Windows XP - go to the ’View’ tab there)
or
*in Vista: click on Organize in the menu to see drop-down sub-menu, choose ’Folder and Search options’ there, go to the ’View’ tab
or
*in Windows 7/8/10:
a) if you use Classic theme:
Tools / Folder Options - go to the ’View’ tab there
b) if you use regular Windows 7 theme: find Organize at the left to see drop-down sub-menu, choose ’Folder and Search options’ there, go to the ’View’ tab
*find there an option called ’Hide File Extensions for known file types’ or something like this.
If it’s checked then uncheckit - while working with keyboard we need to see xxx.KBD or xxx.DLL or xxx.REG or xxx.ZIP, that is we do need to see the extensions. But even for other tasks I think to forbid Windows to hide the extensions is a good choice - why let Windows consider you a novice who is afraid to see file extensions? In many cases this default hiding can be even dangerous - you will see 2 files, both will have the same name and you would not know which is which, because the extensions are not shown..
*find there an option called ’Hide Protected Operating System Files’ and make sure that you set this option in such a way that you see allfiles (Show all, not Hide), even system ones:
keyboard layout files are system files.

If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7/8/10, then it’s all you need to do - you can skip next paragraph and go to the next part of instruction,otherwise -for XP - you need to do more changes:


*Now go to another tab there - ’File Types’ and find there, at the very bottom of the list, an item ’ZIP’.
Click on ’Advanced’ button below the description text.
Make sure that you have a check mark next to ’Confirm open after download’ - such setting is useful not just for the present instruction, but in general, too.
*Now, while in the same tab ’File Types’, find in the list an item ’REG’ (Windows Registry files).
Make sure that ’default action’ for this type is ’call Registry Editor’ which is a normal Windows behavior.
If you have there something else, say ’call Notepad’, then it’s a bad choice (which negatively affects everything, including Phonetic layout activation) and you need to fix it:
click there on ’Change’ button and choose ’Registry Editor’ - if you don’t see it in the list, then click on ’Other’:
navigate and point to ’regedit.exe’ - that file is always present in Windows and is located usually in c:Windows folder.

Here are the steps for a user of Windows XP/2003 or Vista/Windows 7,8,10:
*go to the folder where you saved my .ZIP, place a cursor on that file, click on right mouse button and choose ’Explorer’ to see the contents of that archive.
*choose in the menu the following: File / Extract All (’Extract All’ if it’s Vista), and built-in Windows archive-processing program creates a sub-folder with the same name as archive file has and then places all extracted files to that newly created sub-folder.
After that program does its work, you will see that new folder and all extracted files there.
